The site is bound by Queens Gate to the west and Jay Mews to the east. The Queens Gate frontage consists of Listed Grade II Victorian 5 storey houses and the site as a whole is within a conservation area.

The programme calls for new studios and workspaces for the Departments of Video and Film, Painting, Graphics, Illustration, Computer Studies and Photography. This will allow the College to consolidate the remainder of its departments close to those of the main building on Kensington Gore.

The Queens Gate houses have been preserved with new building work behind, up to and including the Jay Mews frontage. The deep site requires the incorporation of a toplit space to provide daylight to the centre of the scheme and divides the new Jay Mews accommodation from that in Queens Gate, forming an exhibition area for the whole New Faculty Building.
