The project involves the conversion of two existing shops into a showroom
for prints and maps. Advantage is taken of the existing high ceilings to
provide a mezzanine level with storage for portfolios underneath.
The clients' programme called for extensive built-in and purpose designed
free-standing cabinets for the storage and display of prints and for a
permanent, but changing, exhibition of prints and maps on wall display.
The cabinets are of steamed birch, with chromium-plated steel hardware. The
walls are lined with untreated cork panels. The floor finish is dark brown
carpeting.
