The Henry Moore Gallery and its ancillary accommodation forms part of the
Courtyard Building, which is built in the existing courtyard at the Royal
College of Art.
The main gallery space is at the upper level and extends into the existing
building. It links the front entrance of the College, the new entrance
gallery and the Gulbenkian Hall with the rest of the accommodation and
normally acts as the main concourse for staff and students as well as
providing exhibition space.
The gallery comprises 700 square metres of floor space with two large
terraces. The area is divisible by floor to ceiling moveable screens
allowing an additional 350 linear metres of flexible exhibition hanging
surface.
The floor is pale grey insitu and pre-cast terrazzo with a pre-cast
terrazzo with a pre-cast terrazzo stair linking the two levels.
The lower level comprises four large seminar rooms, which can double as
gallery spaces.
The lighting throughout is a mixture of low voltage downlighting and track
lighting designed to exhibition standards.
