In our solution, the existing typology is used but adapted to modern requirements. The existing building line, number of stories, entrance systems, window types, and materials are repeated. In terms of architectural language, the façade of each semi-detached unit has a gable pediment, which is similar to one of the original types to be found in the area. The entrance doors are grouped in a recessed porch, which also includes a central column, marking the line of the party wall. The houses are uniform in their external appearance, but contain a variety of accommodation consisting of either grouped 2 person flats or 5 person family houses in a variety of combinations.
The materials refer to the existing housing and consist of London Stock bricks, re-constructed stone copings, cills and natural render bases and window surrounds, sash windows and slate roofs.
